Highland MSP supports Campbeltown All-Weather Pitch Campaign

22 January 2010

Peter Peacock, Highlands and Islands regional Labour MSP has spoken of his support for the campaign to create an all-weather pitch at Campbeltown.

The campaign is also supported by his colleagues Rhoda Grant MSP and David Stewart MSP.

Mr Peacock commented, "Campbeltown is a major settlement deserving facilities that others enjoy and I have written to Argyll and Bute Council supporting the local campaign to establish such a facility.

"This would greatly enhance sports provision in the Kintyre area, allowing a range of sports to be played regardless of the weather.

"Those involved in sport leagues would benefit with fewer cancellations occurring and more locals enjoying active participation in sport.

"The council has commissioned an outline business case for two possible sites for the pitch and I look forward to learning of the outcome and a final decision being taken to proceed with construction."
