21 April 2009
Peter Peacock, Highlands and Islands regional Labour MSP has lodged a motion at the Scottish Parliament congratulating Elgin based Gordon and MacPhail.
Mr Peacock said: “The family owned company have won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade, after a 94% increase in their total exports over the last five years.
I recently visited their Benromach distillery last week,
along with MEP Catherine Stihler.
The firm are an important employer across Elgin and Moray, with one hundred and thirty staff across their operation. Their hard work and dedication has helped Gordon and MacPhail one of Scotland’s leading independent whisky specialists.
More than half of their products are exported and the firm have plans in place to increase this department, which brought in around £3.6 million pounds.”
