Ordnance Survey Maps for Kids
02 October 2009
11 year olds across Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross are getting their change to receive free Ordnance Explorer maps.
All schools can order maps for all pupils in Primary 7 online.
Peter Peacock said: "This is a great scheme which has gone from strength to strength over recent years. "So much so that there is a great demand, with over 52,000 maps being sent out last year.
"And this year’s campaign looks to be equally as successful with some schools have to wait until January to receive them.
"So far, out of the 50 schools across Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross, only 33 have applied for theirs."
Mr Peacock added: "We’re lucky in the Highlands to have some of the best scenery in the country. "Youngsters should be able to make the most of what is on their doorsteps and these maps will go a long way to helping them get out and about."
